I remember back in 2006–2008ish there was a flood of this aesthetic content on Instagram. Pretty photos of girls drinking coffees at a cafe or flat lays of layered outfits and accessories.

I really loved it.

It lasted a while but, faded eventually and what replaced it were REAL photos of people.

People were craving raw, authentic images and the aesthetic flat lays disappeared.

Lately, I’ve been seeing aesthetic content make a return.

Here’s what I’ve learned so far…

It’s called Lifestyle Marketing

Whether it’s a dream life that you’ll never have OR a life you really do what for yourself, lifestyle marketing on Instagram really does paint a pretty picture.

Here’s how Google defines it…

Google

Luxury photos of women in styled outfits going out to dinner, driving fancy cars or drinking champagne.
